The recent Children’s Parade was a great success that adds another set of voices to the worldwide call for peace. Even the Harley bikers had good things to say as the one hundred or so children and adults streamed by the Old Western Saloon.
When the “talking stick” was passed around the circle following the opening drum ceremony, one speaker referred to the Native American practice in which no act is undertaken before consideration for its effect upon the seventh generation ahead.
This “futuristic” practice calls into question what sort of world we’re creating for our children. We hope one outcome of the event will be to raise these essential questions to the level of everyday discourse in our homes, our schools, our communities, and the wider world.
